Michele Pearson, BA
Chair
Michele Pearson is an educator and health care administrator
who completed a 32 year career at the UCLA Arthur Ashe Student
Health and Wellness Center. Her roles as the Chief of Administrative
Services and an instructor for Life Skills courses have given
her a broad range of experience from oversight of a multi-million
dollar budget to strategic planning to direct interactions
with students and their needs. In 2000, Ms. Pearson was instrumental
in making possible Emperor’s College’s externship
program at UCLA, when it became the first UC campus to offer
acupuncture services to its student body. Ms. Pearson received
a BA in English from UCLA and holds lifetime high school teaching
credentials.
Elizabeth H. Marks, CEBS
Vice Chair
Elizabeth Marks is a Principal and senior consultant in the Los Angeles office of Mercer Health & Benefits. She is responsible for leading client teams and managing projects involving different areas of expertise within Mercer, including health and productivity management, absence management, and communications. She consults to a number of clients in higher education and is a national resource on student health insurance. Ms. Marks attended Bridgewater State College in Massachusetts, where she majored in English. She received the Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) designation, sponsored jointly by the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Jorn Teutloff, MBA
Secretary and Treasurer
Jorn Teutloff is President at JV-Global, a Los Angeles-based
strategy consulting firm. His primary focus includes strategic
planning, business process reengineering and venture capital
for new media, internet, and mobile/wireless companies. Mr.
Teutloff previously served as Vice President of Business Development
at Koders Inc and was engagement manager with the High Growth
consulting practice at Capgemini / Ernst & Young where
he led IT Strategy & Transformation engagements for start-up
ventures and Fortune 500 companies in a variety of industries.
Mr. Teutloff holds an MBA from the University of Southern
California.
Alice G. Langit-Cole, RPT, MTOM, LAc
Alice G. Langit-Cole is a Senior Clinical Specialist, Physical Therapist, and Licensed Acupuncturist at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center. She performs physical therapy for a variety of clients with neuro-musculo-skeletal conditions in the outpatient and inpatient /hospital setting and performs acupuncture evaluation and implements acupuncture treatment plans for a variety of clients in the outpatient Integrated Pain Management Program and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department. Ms. Langit-Cole also develops patient education programs and serves as Clinical Instructor at Kaiser. Ms. Langit-Cole, who is a graduate of Emperor’s College, has a private practice in Torrance, CA.
Mark Ackerman, MD
Mark Ackerman is Staff Physician at the University of California
Los Angeles. He previously worked as Staff Physician at On
Lok Senior Health which provides ongoing comprehensive quality
health care to frail elderly using a multidisciplinary team
approach in the outpatient as well as inpatient and skilled
nursing facility settings. Dr. Ackerman has served as Clinic
Instructor at St. Mary’s Medical Center and as Assistant
Clinic Professor of Medicine at the University of California
San Francisco. He received his Medical Doctorate with Distinction
in Research at State University at Stony Brook.
Margaret E. Phillips, PhD
Margaret E. Phillips, Associate Professor of International
Business at Pepperdine University’s George L. Graziadio
School of Business and Management, holds a B.A. in psychology
from UCLA, an M.S. in administration from the Graduate School
of Management at UC Irvine, and a Ph.D. in management from
the Anderson School at UCLA. She has taught in the Pepperdine
Executive, FEMBA, and FTMBA programs, and in both the MBA
and Ph.D. programs at the Anderson Graduate School of Management
at UCLA. Dr. Phillips has worked with multi-institutional
consortia in California and New York, within the federal government,
and in both line and staff positions in various public sector
organizations.
Mel Barracliffe, MSc
Mel Barracliffe is a management consultant and President of Barracliffe Consulting Inc. He was formerly a Senior Vice President with AVCOR Consulting, a Management Consulting Partner with Ernst & Young LLP, Director of the E&Y Center for Business Transformation, and VP of Knowledge, Learning & Methods for CapGemini, Americas. Mr. Barracliffe received a BSc in Human Physiology from University College, London and an MSc in Management Science from Imperial College, London.
Robert Winn, JD
Robert Winn is an award-winning producer, director, and editor
of documentaries, with a background as a lawyer in international
trade, immigration, and human rights. He received his JD from
Yale University and has worked at Steptoe & Johnson, a
Washington DC law firm. He has also received a MFA from the
USC School of Cinema-Television and has produced, directed,
and edited documentaries for public television about social
issues, Asia, and Asian Americans. His credits include “Grassroots
Rising,” about the Asian American working class in LA
and “Saigon, USA,” about the Vietnamese American
community. He is a recipient of grants from Corporation for
Public Broadcasting, California Council for the Humanities,
Rockefeller Foundation, and Annie E. Casey Foundation.
Eugene Kim, PhD, Director Emeritus
Eugene P. Kim earned his PhD in Comparative Education from UCLA and serves as Dean of Asia Programs at Concordia University Irvine (CUI). He currently works in Shanghai, China where he leads the university's effort to develop programs, initiatives and partnerships in the P.R.C. Dr. Kim oversees an MA in International Studies program which allows students to study, travel and work in China for one year and earn a Masters degree. In addition, he is developing programs in areas of TESOL, TCSOL, Sports Leadership, International Teaching Credentialing, and International Lab Schools. Dr. Kim is the founder of the Foundation for Transformative Leadership (FTL), a non-profit that provides scholarships for under-resourced Chinese students to attend integrated and holistic schools in China. He served as Emperor's College Chairman of the Board from 2006-2008. |
