ADMISSIONS

Requirements for Admission:

1. Official transcript indicating 2800 hours in Oriental medicine at a Masters degree level from an ACAOM accredited or candidate institution, or if from a foreign country, its equivalent.

2. A current California acupuncture license.

Non-Matriculated Students
Non-matriculated students who wish to enroll in doctoral level courses must meet the admissions requirements above. In addition, they must meet any prerequisites for any individual course they wish to take.

Application for Admission
Applicants for admission to the Doctoral Program must submit the following documents for consideration:

1. Completed Application for Admission, including response to essay questions and a clinical case-study.

2. Two professional or academic letters of recommendation.

3. One passport-size photograph.

4. Official academic transcripts from each college attended. Please see the section on Foreign Transcripts below.

5. Proof of malpractice insurance with minimum coverage of $1 million/$3 million.

6. Non-refundable application fee of $100. All checks should be made payable to "ECTOM."

7. Foreign applicants requiring an F-1 Student Visa must submit a US $150 application fee.

8. All courses in the Doctoral Program are taught in English. Foreign students are required to demonstrate English proficiency via a TOEFL score of 500 written or 173 computer. For more details on the TOEFL exam visit: www.toefl.org

Foreign Transcripts
Credits must be evaluated by an independent organization specializing in the evaluation of educational credentials, such as "World Educational Services" (www.wes.org)

Maximum / Minimum Time Limit for Degree Completion
Minimum time to complete the program is not less than 18 calendar months. The program must be completed within four years from the first date of enrollment.

Transfer Credit
Transfer credit can be granted for course work at a doctoral level, e.g. within a medical or osteopathic education, completed prior to admission to the doctoral program at Emperor's College. Equivalency to the courses offered within the program must be established. The maximum transfer credit awarded is one third of the didactic curriculum, i.e. 200 hours.

Credits will only be accepted if they come from a nationally accredited college or university or from an equivalent institution abroad. Credits must also be evaluated by the Doctoral Program Coordinator for relevancy to the doctoral curriculum.

New Student Orientation
New Student Orientations are held annually to familiarize new students with the campus, faculty, staff, students and mission of Emperor's College. All new students are highly encouraged to attend.
