Purpose:
The purpose of the Doctoral Program is to advance the art and practice of Traditional Oriental Medicine by developing advanced academic understanding, clinical specialization and collaborative professional relationships across medical disciplines.

Goals & Objectives:

At the time of graduation, Emperor's College expects from all its students in the Doctoral Program in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine:

1. To exhibit deeper understanding of the theoretical and philosophical foundations of Oriental Medicine and the relationship of classical Chinese medical texts to contemporary biomedicine.

2. To apply advanced clinical skills in the practice of Oriental Medicine, including acupuncture and herbal medicine, for health care diagnosis, clinical decision making, and effective health care treatment.

3. To demonstrate essential knowledge and clinical skills in the graduate's selected specialty.

4. To engage with other health care practitioners through a systems-based approach to medicine.

5. To critically evaluate and creatively participate in clinical research in the field of Oriental Medicine and evidence-based medicine.

6. To exhibit a commitment to life-long learning of advances in Oriental Medicine and its integration with contemporary biomedicine.

7. To lead and enrich the profession of acupuncture and Oriental Medicine through teaching, service, and partnerships.
