Ms. Allen teaches and lectures extensively about practice management and is the Editor of Acupuncture Today.

Yong Ah Baik, LAc

Dr. Baik graduated from Kyung-Hee University in Korea with a Doctorate degree in Oriental Medicine in 1984 after completing a 6 year course. He graduated from Won-Kwang University of Medicine in 1990. He trained as an intern in the Incheon Christian Hospital in Korea and, in 2000, was awarded a Bachelor of Chiropractic Science degree from RMIT in Australia. He returned to the Won-Kwang Graduate School of Medicine and received a PhD in 201. He specializes in anatomical pathology and rehabilitation medicine. Since 1994, he has taught Oriental Medicine at several schools (Kyung-Won University, Sang-Ji University, Hamilton College) and worked in a medical clinic for five years. In 1999, Yong Baik received his California Acupuncture License. Now he works as a clinical supervisor at Emperor's College while teaching Five Elements (The Saam Acupunture) and Sasang Constitutional Medicine from a traditional Korean perspective.

Dr. Chen is a specialist in pharmacology and Chinese herbal medicine, and herb-drugs interactions, is President of Evergreen Herbs & Medical Supplies. He is an associate professor at the USC School pharmacy, and a professor of Western pharmacology at Yo San University and Emperor’s College.

Ms. Cronin was previously the Academic Dean at Emperor's College. She is licensed in several states and currently maintains a private practice.

 

Sharon Deng, L.Ac. MD (China)

Dr. Deng is a teacher at the Affiliated Hospital in Hubei, acupuncturist and herbalist for the AIDS Care Project, Acupuncture Clinic, Boston. Dr. Deng has specialized in researching biochemical techniques for the diagnosis and treatment of digestive diseases.

Mr. Eisenstark worked as an acupuncture drug de-tox specialist at Turnabout A.S.A.P., Chrysalis and the Clare Foundation. In 1995, Douglas spent 2 months studying acupuncture and herbs in Shanghai, China at the Hua Shan and Zhong Sun Hospitals. He maintains a private practice in Los Angeles. In addition, he has articles published in Caregiver Magazine and is the review editor for acupuncture.com. Hua Gu, L.Ac., MD (China)

Ph.D., China Academy of TCM, Beijing, China, Orthopedic and Traumatology specialist.

Medicine Doctorate from Guangchou Medical College, China.

Dr. Gu is the only person in the U.S. to hold a Ph.D. in TCM Orthopedics and is the Founder of the American Acupuncture Academy. He has several recent publications.

John Gu, L.Ac., MD (China)

Nai-Qiang Gu is from the famous Gu family lineage of Shanghai. His father and grandfather practiced the dermatological specialty, which includes the surgical procedures of TCM. The Gu family lineage has many secret prescriptions, especially in the arena of external applications. With forty years of experience, Dr. Gu has published more than thirty research papers and books.

Ms. Harris worked extensively as a massage therapist and currently teaches Meridians and Shiatsu. She also maintains a private practice in Santa Monica.

Dr. Jing-Lu received her MD and OMD degrees after 8 years of training, including 3 years at the Beijing University of TCM. Dr. Jing-Lu is in private practice at the Traditional Chinese Medicine Healing Center, Los Angeles.

Natasha Lane, M.S.

Ms. Lane was an instructor and clinical supervisor at Southwest Acupuncture College where she taught advanced techniques and auricular therapy. For several years, Ms. Lane worked in treating substance abuse with auricular therapy. She has completed several internships and residencies at Beijing Medical University. She specializes in sports medicine and has studied with several of China’s leading sports medicine experts. For three years, she lived and studied Tibetan Meditation at the Kaygu Buddhist Center in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Don Lee is a licensed acupuncturist at the Center for Health Enhancement and Occupational Medicine at Saint John’s Health Center in Santa Monica, where he specializes in anti-aging and orthopedics. He is a medical evaluator and currently serves on the board of directors of Emperor’s College.

She received postgraduate training from Harvard University and UCLA.  A dedicated volunteer, she allocates time for Torrance Memorial Medical Center and the America Reads Program for kids. Currently, she is clinic supervisor at the UCLA Ashe Center.  A 3rd generation acupuncturist, Starrie practices in Rancho Palos Verdes and Pacific Palisades.

Dawn McCrory, PT, L.Ac.

Ms. McCrory has worked extensively as a licensed physical therapist and as an acute care orthopedic specialist at Saint John’s Health Center in Santa Monica. She maintains a private practice in Santa Monica.

 

Merle Morgan-Drennan L.Ac.

MTOM, Emperor’s College

Prior to becoming an apprentice to Dr. Hong Liu, Ms. Morgan-Drennan owned an herbal products company and developed a line of products, which incorporated Chinese herbs. She has been an apprentice to Master Hong Liu since 1994 and works closely with him in teaching Qi Gong seminars and treating patients in his clinic.

 

Robert Newman, L.Ac.

Robert Newman was the curator of the Chinese herb garden at the Nanjing Institute of Botany in China. He is one of the leading experts on Chinese medicinal plant identification in North America. Robert taught Chinese medicine at San Francisco State University and was on the faculty at ACTCM for 4 years where he created and developed the Chinese herb garden. He is currently the Clinic Director at Emperor's College.

Thom Tan Nguyen, L.Ac. (MD Viet Nam)

Dr. Nguyen has extensive experience as an Acupuncturist and Herbalist in Saigon, Vietnam, and the Ivory Coast. He served as a Board Member for Nhan Hoa Comprehensive Healthcare, Garden Grove and is now practicing in Long Beach.

 

Tim O’Connor, B.A.

Mr. O’Connor has been a Tai Chi Chuan teacher since 1980. He trained in Classic Yeng Style tradition of Tai Chi Chuan under Master Mary Chow. Mr. O’Connor also served as a faculty member at the UCLA Center for East-West Medicine, 1996.

 

Tara Perry, L.Ac.

Ms. Perry is certified as a Qualified Medical Evaluator (QME) for the Industrial Medical Council, State of California Workman’s Compensation.  She is also a member of the National Board of Acupuncture Orthopedics (NBAO).  Ms. Perry studied acupuncture and herbs for a year at one of the top five traditional Chinese medical universities in Chendu, China.  She served as head acupuncture supervisor at UCLA’s Arthur Ashe medical facility (Jan-June 2000). She teaches meridians classes at Emperor's and maintains a private practice in Santa Monica.

Yi Qiao previously served as Clinic Director at Emperor’s College.  Following her training at Beijing University of TCM, she was engaged in private practice in San Diego. Dr. Qiao was also elected as a Commissioner to the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM).

Zhou Yi Qiu, L.Ac. MD (China)

Dr. Qiu is a unique addition to Emperor’s College due to his background in TCM Cardiology.  He instructs Chinese Internal Medicine and herbology classes at several schools.

Michael Redmond, R.N.

Mr. Redmond is presently a S.I.C.U. nurse at Santa Monica Hospital. Mr. Redmond is a senior faculty and is the chair of the Department of Western Medicine at Emperor’s College. He has a wide range of clinical experience including trauma, intensive care, anesthesia, and home health, coupled with a voracious appetite for current information and a sense of the macabre allows for a vivid illustration of subjects that might otherwise be considered a little dry.

Dr. Rubio is in private practice at the Traditional Healing Arts Center, Los Angeles. Mr. Rubio also coordinated the clinical externship for Emperor’s College at the LA Free Clinic.

 

Jan Ellen Rutiz, L.Ac.

Ms. Rutiz is licensed as an acupuncturist in California and Hawaii. Ms. Rutiz loves to engage the soul and art of healing, and enjoys guiding students in cultivation of qi sensitivity and intuitive awareness. A passion for wilderness and garden, extensive field experience with living medicinal herbs, and interests in ethnobotany and shamanic healing inspire her teaching and practice.

 

Robert Segal, Psy.D

Mr. Stone’s affiliation with Emperor’s College goes back to 1993 when he was the bookstore manager and librarian. He began his website, acupuncture.com in 1995 and has since then maintained a strong presence on the Internet with sites such as www.gancao.net, www.beyondwellbeing.com, and www.pointinjection.com. Mr. Stone is a supervisor in the clinic.

Ron Teeguarden is widely recognized as one of the foremost tonic herbalists in the world today. He has been a powerful translator of Eastern philosophy and health care techniques to hundreds of thousands of Westerners for nearly three decades. Ron’s books have become classics in the field of Chinese Herbalism.

Dr. David Twicken, DOM, L.Ac.,   has studied, practiced and taught Taoist Arts for more than twenty-five years and is licensed to practice Chinese Medicine in California and New Mexico. David has taught at Emperor’s College since 1994. He writes and teaches Feng Shui, Qi Gong, Chinese Astrology and Oriental Medicine internationally.

 

Patricia Walton, L.Ac., R.N.

Ms. Walton is in private practice in Los Angeles and with Wellness Rehabilitation Center, Century City.  She was program director for the Daniel Freeman Acupuncture Program for 3 years.  Patricia worked for many years as an R.N. in psychiatry, drug abuse and with holistic Medical Doctors. She had a private massage practice and has studied Tai Qi Chuan and Choi Lay Fut Kung Fu.  She is also an instructor for the C.N.T. course.

Before arriving in the U.S., Dr. Yang was a chief physician for ten years in the Orthopedic department at the Xi Yuan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Beijing. He is currently a supervisor in clinic.

Tiande Yang, L.Ac., , Ph.D., MD (China)

Dr. Yang has been officially entitled and registered Asian academic inheritor of the Most Distinguished Acupuncturists and Traditional Chinese Specialists, the highest rank for Traditional Chinese Medical Doctors in the Peoples Republic of China. To preserve the heritage of Chinese Medicine, 500 of the most respected Chinese Doctors selected two pupils each to pass on their time-honored medical knowledge and skills. Dr. Yang is one of the 1,000 elects and started his apprenticeship under his father at age 16. As an assistant professor of Traditional Chinese Medicine at the Beijing College of Traditional Chinese Medicine since 1988, he was the physician in charge of the department of acupuncture and moxibustion at the Beijing Dongzhimen Hospital.

Dr. Zhai has been a clinic supervisor at Emperor’s Clinic for over three years. She currently has a private practice in Santa Monica, CA.

Ji Zhang, L.Ac., MD (China)

In addition to supervising at Emperor's College, Samra University and the former Royal University Dr. Zhang has taught many courses in Oriental Medical theory, Internal Medicine, Formulas, Pharmacopoeia, Case Seminar and Formula Writing. From 1983-1992, Dr. Zhang was a resident and than later attending physician at the First Affiliated Hospital, Nanjing University. He has published books and numerous articles regarding treatment with Oriental Medicine.
